#1 Tip to Plan Your Goal
Have you ever written a goal and realized that you didn't really want to achieve that goal? As you really thought about what it would look like when you achieved your goal, you realized you didn't really want to be that person. You didn't want your day and schedule to look and feel that way.
As we create goals, we need to become crystal clear on what our life will look like as we work through our goal and what it will look like when we achieve this goal.
For many years, I have wanted to help support my family by running my own business. As soon as I start thinking about a new idea and goal, I immediately go to the extreme. Then I have to hone in my dreams and think about the work that goes into that dream. Do I want my life to look that way? How many hours will this take a day? Is this worth the time away from my family?
I know we need to sacrifice a little but we do not need to commit to something that we will quit because it doesn't fit into our life and is to much of an extreme commitment.
To get crystal clear on what your day will look like when you are working on your goal and when you accomplish it, make a list of what you need to do daily, weekly, and monthly.
Plan when you will do each of those activities.
For example, your goal may be to get out of debt. It is important to plan how you will pay off each credit card AND it is also important to plan what your everyday will look like. Where will you spend your money? How often will you go out to eat? What meals will you cook at home so you can save money? How will you approach holidays and celebrations? Visualizing and defining these details will help you accomplish your goal of getting out of debt.
If your goal is to cook healthy dinner meals for your family, you will need to plan out when you are finding new recipes, putting together your grocery list, grocery shopping and when dinner time will be.
Visualizing the commitment to this new goal will help you understand if this is a goal you are willing to work for. It will also guide you in achieving your goal. You need to get crystal clear on all the details so you know how you are going to accomplish your goal! It is okay if you do not know exactly how to achieve this goal. This is when you ask others who have already done it. Ask them HOW. Ask them WHAT their everyday looks like. Find out all the details!
Now that you are in the know, you are ready to get started on your goal. You are going to rock it!
